Perfect Projection!
July 10, 2007 |
If you have invested in one of the new digital home cinema projectors, then you are probably wincing at the cost of getting decent screen to project onto. We have been contacted on numerous occasions by people asking about using blinds as solutions for home cinema’s.
There are a few things to consider, firstly is how best to darken the room so as to allow the best possible picture. This is best achieved by using a blackout roller blind situated outside of the window recess and overlapping the recess on all four sides by at least 50mm. The overlap means that very little light comes in from the sides of the window and interferes with the projection.
The second thing to consider is the screen itself. In the documentation supplied with your overhead projector there will be the manufacturers recommendation as to which colour screen you should use. This is normally plain white or light grey as these give the optimum colour reproduction. The price of these projection screens can be astronomical but there is an alternative, we have our bathroom roller blinds from the Ocean range that are the right colour, texture and thickness to be perfect in this function. As they double as a blackout blind, they will prevent the projection hitting the wall behind the screen and reflecting back which causes blurred images. What’s more, they will roll up to a very small 60mm at the top so they can be wall mounted or ceiling mounted and kept tidily out of the way when not being used. We can also make these to extra large sizes, the biggest being 3m wide x 2.5m drop, that’s a massive 10ft x 8ft viewing area!
